Rocket Socks – Anleitungsfrust — Frustration with the pattern

Ich brauche etwas Aufmunterung, denn die Anleitung der Raketensocken zieht sich schlimmer als ein Kaugummi. Ich muss gestehen, ich hasse Anleitungen, bei denen Unklarheiten sind, bei denen man dann selbst erst ausprobieren muss, wie es gehen könnte. Deshalb versuche ich meine Anleitungen immer möglichst gut verständlich zu schreiben.
I need a little encouragement, please, because writing the pattern drags on like chewing gum (I’m not shure wether you can understand the on to one translation of a German idiom). I hate patterns with obscurities therefore I try to write my patterns as understandable as possible.

Da ich diese Socken lange in meinem Hirn zusammengesponnen habe, war das Mitprotokollieren der Anleitung auch nicht schwer und vor allem nicht lang. Seht selbst:

Keine Panik, ich brauch das kreative Chaos. *g* Auf dem Blatt in Blau, das ist, was ich bei den Raketensocken aus Norowolle mitprotokolliert habe. Die roten Anmerkungen und der Briefumschlag, das sind meine Anmerkungen, als ich die Socken noch einmal aus der Opal Prisma gestrickt habe, die im erste Teil im ICE entstanden sind, wo ich ein weiteres Blatt Papier vergessen hatte, also musste der Briefumschlag herhalten. Unten links ist eigentlich nur die Beschreibung für zwei doppelte Zunahmen, weil meine Freundin mir mitteilte, dass sie die gar nicht kennt.
Don’t panic, I need the creative chaos! *g* What you see on the sheet in blue, this ist, what I recorded along when knitting the rocket socks with the Noro sockyarn. The annotations in red and on the envelope show my annotations I did, when I knitted the socks again in Opal Prisma yarn. The first part of them was knitted in an ICE (train). Unfortunately I forgot to take another sheet of paper with me, so the envelope had to work as well.

Sieht doch wirklich nicht viel aus. Im Regelfall wird die Anleitung dann in etwa doppelt so lang plus Fotos/Strickschrift. NUR: Als ich dann anfing, das als Anleitung auszuschreiben, merkte ich, dass vieles, was mir ganz selbstverständlich erschien, genauer erklärt werden musste, sonst könnte Niemand oder nur absolut versierte, experimentierfreudige Strickerinnen mit der Anleitung etwas anfangen. Da die Ab-/Zunahmen auch anders laufen als beim herkömmlichen Patchwork, musste das auch beschrieben werden und noch vieles mehr.
This doesn’t look much. Normally the pattern will become about twice as long plus photos/chart. ONLY: Wenn I started typing the pattern, I recognized that a lot, that was completely clear to me, had to be explained far more. It even ist not an advantage, that you know mitred knitting, because the de-/increases are done in another way.

Also tippselte ich, schickte meiner Freundin immer wieder die Teile der Anleitung und es wurde mehr und mehr, noch mehr und noch mehr, es ist fast kein Ende in Sicht.
So I typed, sent the parts to a friend that she read it and it became more and more, even more and even more and there seems to be no end.

Gut, die deutsche Anleitung ist nun fertig, es fehlen aber noch die Fotos und das sind ja auch nur mal schnell weitere ca. 20 – ich bin mir noch nicht sicher, weil ich aus einigen Fotos Ausschnitte machen muss. Ich hab den Inhalt nun einmal in Word kopiert und es sind ohne Bilder schon sechs Seiten. Seht selbst:

Kurz: Ich bin gefrustet, denn so viele warten auf das Muster, ich hab es immer wieder angekündigt und nun verschiebt sich die Veröffentlichung wieder! Und dieses Wochenende habe ich wieder keine Zeit wegen einer Familienfeier.
To make a long story short: I’m frustrated, because so many knitters are waiting for this pattern, I announced it again and again and now the release will last again! And this weekend I have no spare time because of a family celebration.

Raketen Socken – Rocket Socks – Entschuldigung

(in English after the photos) Es tut mir leid, da einige anscheinend ganz wild auf die Anleitung sind. Erst zur Beruhigung: Sie kommt, jetzt leider das Aber: Auf der Elearningplattform unserer Schule gab es große Probleme. Besonders übel, da die Schüler und Eltern angehalten werden, einen Teil der Pfingstferien für die Prüfungsvorbereitung für die Abschlussprüfungen zu nutzen und dafür viel Material und Kurse auf unserer Plattform online finden. Seit letzter Woche Donnerstag einschließlich Wochenende habe ich nun eckige Augen und nur alles in der Datenbank wieder geflickt (doch, doch, wir hatten eine Sicherung, aber alles lief nicht 100%ig glatt), denn erfreulicherweise nutzen ca. 80% unserer Schüler dieses Onlineangebot. Jetzt ist ein Ende abzusehen und ich habe mir heute morgen eine Stunde Stricken gegönnt. Die Opal Raketen Socken sind nun fertig. Die Anleitung somit überarbeitet, nun muss ich sie nur noch hier hochstellen.
Da ich jedoch noch fürs Schulamt etwas machen muss, kann es noch bis Donnerstag dauern. Aber die Anleitung kommt, versprochen. In jedem Fall wisst ihr jetzt schon, dass die Rakete im Namen nichts mit der Geschwindigkeit zu tun haben kann. 😉 , weil ja einige auch neugierig sind, woher der Name kommt.

I’m really sorry, especially some of you told me they are feveredly witing for the pattern. You need’t be anxious, the pattern will come – BUT (oh, oh, here comes „the but“): The Elearningplattform of our schook crashed. Ok, we had a bckup, but not all worked well. So since last Thursday I fixed it, as the students prepare now in their holidays for their findal examination, as nearly 80% of them are really doing this, I had to hurry up fixing it. So I worked the whole weekend and I can see an end now.
This morning I gave me one hour for knitting and so i finished the Rocket Socks with Opal yarn. Now I see, that with some small corrretions my pattern instructions are ok and I will put it up. It might last till next Thursday, because I have to work out something for our supervisory school authority (or do you call it local education authority?), but after that, I promise I will put up the pattern. I hope the new pictures of the rocket socks are a (very) small excuse for you. On the other hand, all who guessed, why this socks are called Rocket Socks can cross out their assumtion, that it is because of the speed the pattern was put up. 😉

Rocket Socken, Rocket Socks – Update II

Asche über mein Haupt, ich habe es nicht geschafft, die Socken fertig zu stricken. Aber lange dauert es nicht mehr. Schaut selbst:

Gut, sie haben natürlich von der Farbe her nie den Schmelz des Noro Garns, aber dafür ist es richtiges Sockengarn und irgendwie auch lustig. So, ich hoffe mal, das ich heute Abend wieder strickseln kann, dass die Anleitung endlich hoch kann.

Rocket Socken – Rocket socks Update

Ich sitze gerade da und stricke die Rocket Socken noch einmal in einer alten Opal-Wolle und das ist gut so, denn obwohl ich eine fast identische Maschenprobe hatte, gibt es kleine Unterschiede. Vor allem kam ich bisher schon an zwei Stellen in meiner mitprotokollierten Anleitung, an denen ich sehr scharf überlegen musste, was hatte ich denn bei den Noro-Rocket Socken gemacht. 😮
I’m sitting here and knit the Rocket Socks again in an old Opal yarn. I think this is not bad, because although I had nearly an identical gauge, there are slight differences. Above all I came to two parts of my protocolled pattern instructions, where I had to think hard, how I did it with the Rocket Socks. 😮

Bei einem normal gestrickten Sockenmuster mache ich das nicht, ich weiß auch nicht, warum ich das nun gemacht habe, aber ich denke es ist besser so. 🙂
At the normal knitted sock patterns I didn’t do that. I don’t know, why I do it now, but I think it is not bad for this pattern. 🙂

Die Socken sehen übrigens auch in einer selbstmusternden Wolle klasse aus, also für alle, die wie ich auch davon noch viel in ihren Wollbergen liegen haben, aber inzwischen viel lieber handgefärbte Wolle verstricken, das ist eine Möglichkeit die Selbstmusternde auch mal wieder interessant zu verstricken.
This pattern is good for selfpattering yarn, too. So for all of you who have such yarn still at home but prefer like me handpainted yarn now, this ist a possibility to knit selfpattering yarn again.

Fotos gibt es dann morgen. Danach kommt auch die Anleitung, von der ich hoffe, dass man sie dann gut nachstricken kann.

Rocket Socken – Rocket socks

Nun sind sie fertig, meine Raketensocken aus Noro-Sockenwolle. Damit man versteht, wie sie gestrickt wurden, habe ich einen Socken von vorne und von hinten fotografiert und dann die Bilder zusammengefügt. Ich werde demnächst dazu die Anleitung veröffentlichen.
Now my rocket socks are finished, made of Noro sock yarn. I photographed one Sock from front and back and put the photos together, so that you can imagine, how the socks were made. I will write the pattern for the socks soon.

Wie komme ich auf Rocket Socken? Das werdet ihr dann in der Anleitung sehen. Ein bisschen Spannung muss sein. *fg* Wie ihr merkt, sind das Patchworkrechtecke – allerdings mit einer etwas anderen Ab-/Zunahmetechnik als bei Horst Schulz. Ich habe an der Sohle angefangen und sehr viel mit provisorischen Anschlägen gearbeitet, sodass ich dann nur jeweils in der Mitte die Rechtecke mit dem Maschenstich schließen musste, aber nie irgendwelche Maschen aus dem Rand bis auf die Ferse aufnehmen musste.
Why Rocket socks? You will see the answer in the pattern – I tantalize you a little. 😉 You can see that I used mitreds but with another technic in de- and increases as Horst Schulz. I started at the sole and did a lot with provisorial cast on, so I only had to close the middle of the rectangles in kitchener stitch. No stitches were picked up at the sides only at the heel.

Zu der Noro Sockenwolle:
Gruselig. Ok, die Farben sind wieder typisch Noro-wundervoll, aber die Qualität ist absolut bodenlos. Insgesamt ist mir der Faden 3x gerissen – natürlich auch mal an besonders komplizierten Stellen bis ich darauf kam, dass der Faden an der Stelle einfach nicht genug getwistet war. Diese Sockenwolle ist wie Dochtgarn, mal dicker, mal dünner und an manchen dicken Stellen hat es die Konsistenz wie Evilla Vorgarn. Ich habe dann das Garn einfach ganz stark gedreht an den Stellen und schon klappte es ohne zu reißen. Dazu kommt, dass es labbert trotz 30% Nylon. Ich habe es auch mal aus Spaß mit 2er Nadeln gestrickt, aber da wurde es auch nicht besser, im Gegenteil, da lief die Wolle dann nur extrem schwer. Auf jeden Fall wundert es mich nicht, dass es nicht waschmaschinenfest ist. Ich hatte mir aus Gier noch ein zweites Knäuel in anderer Farbe gekauft, weiß aber nicht nicht, was ich daraus mache. Socken wahrscheinlich nicht. Ich bin sehr enttäuscht. Ach ja, kratzig ist es nicht, aber irgendwie fühlt sich das komisch an. Mich erinnert das einmal an einen Stoff. Vielleicht kennt ihr Lappen aus recycleter Kleidungs-Wolle, die werden für Holzveredelung benötigt. So fühlt sie sich an. Also Schurwolle ist da in meinen Augen nicht. Für mich eine absolute Enttäuschung und das zu dem Preis! Na ja, schauen wir uns einfach den Socken noch einmal von der Seite an:

Weird! Ok, the colours are really beautiful, but the quality is awful. The yarn disrupted three times until I tried a trick. Sometimes the yarn hd the consistence like Evilla preyarn. So I twisted it there and then it worked. Although the yarn has 30% nylon it looses the form worse like simple cotton yarn. I tried to knit it with smaller needles but then knitting was very hard and it did not help. No wonder that it is not machine washable. And the feeling of the wool is strange. In Germany we have special cloths made of recycled wool from former clothing. They are used for wood refinement. The feeling of this cloths is very similar to the feeling of the noro sock yarn. I don’t think it is made of new wool.

Neue Socken – new socks

Socken für meinen Schatz aus Match- Sockenwolle. Diese günstige Wolle, die es in einigen Resteläden gibt, ist sehr schön und trägt sich gut. Allerdings ist es ein absolut musterfressendes Garn. Mein Schatz wollte seitlich wieder ein Männermuster (hier kleine falsche Zöpfe), aber selbst in Natura muss man schon sehr genau hinsehen, dass man das Muster entdeckt. 😀
Socks für my darling with a little pattern (small imitating cables) on the side. This is a cheap yarn you get in some outlet stores, but it is of very good quality. However this yarn is absolutely guzzling pattern. Even if you look at it very close up, you nearly do not see the pattern.

Aus den Tiefen meiner Computer – I found sth. on my computers

Das ist ein Wollmeise Versuchskaninchen. Der erste Pullover, den ich mir als Teenager strickte, war ein Pullover im Flechtmuster aus einer Für Sie und ich war fasziniert von dieser Art zu stricken. Es machte mir riesigen Spaß. Zuerst habe ich einige andere Muster für diese Wollmeise probiert, irgendwie erinnerte ich mich dann an den Pullover und los gings im Flechtmuster. Anfangs musste ich probieren, wie viele Maschen ich für die Quadrate nehmen muss, aber dann war es nur noch eine Riesenfreude. Ich denke irgendwann schreibe ich dazu noch eine Anleitung.
This yarn is a Wollmeise Versuchskaninchen. The first jumper I knitted as teen was in Entrelac and I loved knitting this pattern. At first I tried other patterns for this yarn, but suddenly I got the idea of entrelac. At first it was a littel difficult to find the fitting number of stitches per entrelac square but then it was big fun. It might be that I write another pattern to this socks.

Als ich diese Wolle im Wollmeisenblog sah, war ich begeistert. Die Wolle musste ich haben und das Muster passte super dazu. Ich habe es etwas abgeändert. Anfangs ist das Muster dich, dann habe ich es durch immer mehr Zwischenreihen auslaufen lassen. Habe ich schon gesagt, dass ich Wollmeisengarne liebe? Auch Claudia (Wollmeise) ist eine tolle Frau und so nett! Ich habe das Glück, dass ich sie mindestens dreimal im Jahr auf den Frühlingstagen und der Dult ins Sauerlach sowie auf dem Textilmarkt in Benediktbeuern sehen kann und dann dort in dem Farbrausch abtauchen kann.
When I saw this yarn in the blog of Wollmeise, I was thrilled. This yarn had to be mine and the pattern fitted wonderful. I altered it a little. I startet with the pattern in a close way and then I increased the rounds in between. Did I tell you, that I love the yarns of Wollmeise? And Claudia (Wollmeise) ist a wonderful woman and so nice! I hope you do not get too envious, when I tell you, that I meet her at least three times a year in Sauerlach and at the Textilmarkt in Benediktbeuern. There I can dive into colours and yarn.
